National Mojito Day Brings Drink Deals and Special Flavors This Weekend
National Mojito Day is being celebrated with a variety of promotions, including $1 drinks, special flavors, and historical facts about the Cuban cocktail.

National Mojito Day, observed annually, is being marked this year with numerous restaurant deals and specialty offerings across the country. Consumers can find promotions ranging from significantly discounted classic mojitos to unique flavor variations and even competitions.
The classic mojito consists of white rum, lime juice, soda water, mint, and sugar, with mint typically muddled at the bottom of the glass before other ingredients are added. The drink's origins are debated, but it is widely believed to have originated in Cuba. One theory suggests it evolved from the 16th-century "Draque" drink, made with aguardiente de caña, sugar, lime, and mint. Another posits that American tourists brought the Mint Julep to Cuba in the 1920s and 1930s, inspiring the mojito.
Ernest Hemingway's connection to the drink is often cited, particularly his quote about "My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita," referring to the Havana establishments. However, some historians question the extent of his actual consumption or endorsement of the mojito.
This year's promotions include offers such as $1 classic mojitos at Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar during specific hours. Perry's Steakhouse & Grille is featuring a Pineapple Ginger Mojito and a non-alcoholic version. Locations of Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille in Florida are offering six different mojito varieties and a complimentary glass with purchase, along with a lime jelly bean guessing contest.
Further deals can be found in Clearwater, Florida, where Hiatus allows customers to create their own mojito pitcher or order individual drinks. Snooze Eatery in Kansas City is offering a Costa Verde Mojito as part of its "Brunch Goals" menu, with discounts for patrons wearing sports jerseys. In New York City, Bar Hugo & Azul Rooftop is serving classic mojitos for $14 and flavored versions for $15.
