Nato Condemns Russian Nuclear Rhetoric Over Kaliningrad
Nato has condemned Russian threats concerning the isolation of Kaliningrad. Russia has indicated a readiness to use its "entire arsenal" to defend the territory.

Nato has criticized Russian "irresponsible nuclear rhetoric" after Moscow reportedly threatened to use its "entire arsenal" to defend the Kaliningrad exclave. According to an informal communication to the alliance, Russia stated it is prepared to deploy its full range of capabilities should Nato states attempt to isolate the territory from the rest of Russia.
The alliance maintains that its exercises and military activities pose no threat to Russia. Kaliningrad, bordering Nato members Poland and Lithuania, hosts Russian military assets including nuclear-capable Iskander missiles.
In separate developments, Russia is reportedly planning to cut social spending in 2027. Government documents obtained by Reuters suggest that budgets for social policy, including pensions and veteran benefits, will decrease by seven percent. Education and healthcare budgets are also slated for reductions.
