Nato selects Saab's GlobalEye surveillance aircraft
Swedish defense company Saab has been selected to supply its GlobalEye airborne early warning and control aircraft to Nato. The contract was announced in early July 2026.

Swedish defense and aerospace company Saab has secured a contract to deliver its GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft system to Nato. The agreement was announced in July 2026, further solidifying Saab's standing in the European aerospace and defense sector.
The GlobalEye is an advanced long-range surveillance aircraft capable of gathering intelligence from both air and sea. The system is expected to significantly enhance Nato's intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, providing real-time situational awareness and enabling faster responses in a dynamic security environment.
Saab has previously supplied GlobalEye systems to several nations, and this Nato contract serves as a significant endorsement of the company's sophisticated technology and its ability to meet the alliance's demanding requirements. The company has recently also secured other notable orders, including contracts for Gripen E fighter jets and A26 submarines for Poland.
Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but the deal is anticipated to boost Saab's revenue and strengthen its market position in the global defense industry.
