Construction company NCC and social infrastructure company Hemsö will commence building a new nursing home in Turku in September 2026. The facility, covering approximately 7,800 square meters and offering 170 care places, is expected to be completed by spring 2028. The construction project has an order value of approximately SEK 200 million.
The new building will replace a 1960s nursing home that could not be upgraded to modern standards. The facility will be operated by Varha (The Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland) and is designed to support both elderly care and rehabilitation.
Both companies highlight the growing demand for healthcare services and the importance of well-designed facilities. The new nursing home aims to provide long-term sustainable and functional spaces for residents and staff. The building is targeted for BREEAM Excellent certification.
