NCC constructs impressive glass roof for Teknostallen in Trondheim

NCC is undertaking a substantial construction project at the Teknostallen office complex in Trondheim, Norway, involving the installation of a large glass roof covering more than 2,200 square meters. The project highlights close collaboration and meticulous attention to detail, particularly given the site's protected facade and limited space.

The design and execution of the glass roof have involved extensive teamwork between NCC, Glassbygg, Contiga, and TFS Entreprenør, among others. A six-month collaborative phase included weekly meetings to ensure progress and quality. The technical complexity is evident in the precise structural requirements and spans of up to 32 meters.

Challenges in the project also encompass logistics and safety. Daily installation of large glass panels occurred under demanding conditions, and work at height required continuous coordination among numerous contractors. Technical planning, including daylight simulations and calculations for snow and water loads, has been crucial for the project's success.

The construction of the glass roof commenced in November 2024 and is slated for completion by Easter 2025. The undertaking involves over 40 individuals and integrates modern technology with aesthetic design, adapted for Norwegian conditions.
