NCC secures SEK 290 million contract to expand Skogome prison
Construction firm NCC has received a mandate from Specialfastigheter to build new residential units at the Skogome correctional facility in Gothenburg, increasing total capacity to 800 inmates.

NCC has entered into a contract with state-owned real estate firm Specialfastigheter to expand the Skogome correctional facility in Gothenburg. The project, valued at approximately SEK 290 million, involves the construction of new residential blocks and supporting waste management infrastructure.
The expansion is part of a broader mandate from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to address a national shortage of prison beds. The current facility, which houses roughly 200 inmates, is slated to accommodate 800 places upon completion of the expansion project.
This contract represents a significant piece of infrastructure development in the region. Work will proceed under a construction contract agreement as the Swedish authorities aim to alleviate overcrowding within the domestic penal system.
