NCC to construct 70 km of high-voltage power lines in Västra Götaland

NCC has signed a construction contract with Svenska kraftnät for the Horred-Breared power line project. The project involves building 70 kilometers of new 400 kV overhead power lines. The order value for this contract is approximately SEK 1 billion.

The Horred-Breared project will connect the Breared substation in Halmstad Municipality with the Horred substation in Mark Municipality. The new lines will be constructed along the same corridor as the existing ones, a common practice to minimize disruption during infrastructure upgrades.

This project is the first construction contract to be awarded under the broader Västra Götaland business package, indicating a significant investment in the region's power grid infrastructure. Upgrading these lines is crucial for ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply to meet the growing energy demands of the area.

NCC has previous experience in similar large-scale energy projects. The company completed the Ingelkärr-Stenkullen power lines in 2024, demonstrating its capability in executing complex transmission line construction.
