NCC to renovate school and preschool building in Helsinki
NCC has secured a contract to renovate a school and preschool building located in a historic area of Helsinki. The project is set to commence in early 2027 and is valued at approximately SEK 170 million.

Construction company NCC will begin the renovation of a school and preschool building in Helsinki in early 2027. The building, with its oldest sections dating back to 1844, has not seen significant refurbishment since the 1980s. The contract is valued at approximately SEK 170 million.
The renovation will include the replacement of the ground floor structure, installations, and ceilings, as well as upgrades to windows, interior finishes, and facades. The outdoor environment will also be renovated. The project is situated in a culturally significant heritage area, adding complexity to the refurbishment.
"Renovating and upgrading historic and heritage-listed buildings is one of the most challenging types of refurbishment projects. Our ambition is to develop healthy, safe, and functional spaces for future users while preserving the buildings’ original character. NCC has extensive experience of delivering similar complex projects," stated Jarkko Heinonen, Head of Renovations at NCC Building Nordics in Finland.
The refurbishment is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. The order value will be registered within the NCC Building Nordics business area in the fourth quarter of 2026.
