TOKYO – June 8, 2010 – NEC Corporation has introduced a new license scheme for its high-availability EXPRESSCLUSTER software, tailored for virtual environments. Under the revised model, license fees are determined by the number of virtual servers in use, a departure from the previous scheme that required a license per virtual CPU.
This adjustment allows users to flexibly alter the number of virtual CPUs according to fluctuating workloads. Licensing costs will remain constant regardless of changes in virtual CPU count, as long as the number of virtual servers stays the same. The new scheme addresses the need for virtualization systems to dynamically adjust CPU allocation in response to varying demands, thereby enhancing customer convenience and reducing overall costs.
NEC Corporation will continue to offer its traditional virtual CPU-based licensing option, enabling customers to select the most suitable licensing combination based on their specific system configuration and operational needs.
