Neste Oyj has officially closed its acquisition of a majority stake in IH Demeter B.V., a Dutch company specializing in the trading of animal fats and proteins. The deal, first announced in May 2018, has received regulatory approval and is now complete.

Under the terms of the agreement, Neste now holds 51% of the shares in IH Demeter B.V., making Neste the controlling shareholder. The former owners will continue as co-owners in the company.

The acquisition is intended to support Neste's strategy of building a global raw material platform based on waste and residue streams. According to Neste, Demeter's established European logistics network will facilitate the supply of future raw material volumes to Neste's renewable product refineries. Following the transaction, IH Demeter B.V. will operate under the name Neste Demeter B.V.

Neste is a global leader in renewable diesel refined from waste and residues, and it also provides solutions for the aviation and plastics industries. The company aims to create sustainable solutions for transport, business, and consumer needs.
