Neste Corporation has signed an agreement to acquire a former biodiesel plant in Sluiskil, Netherlands, from Electrawinds ReFuel B.V. The acquisition will provide Neste with pre-treatment and storage capacity for renewable raw materials.
The Sluiskil facility is intended for use by Neste's renewable diesel refineries. The company stated that this acquisition supports its growth strategy and will enable the processing of more challenging, waste-based raw materials.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017. The plant has been inactive since January 2015 and is scheduled to begin pre-treatment and storage operations in the latter half of 2017, following maintenance work.
Neste is the world's largest producer of renewable diesel refined from waste and residues. The company is also developing solutions for the aviation and plastics industries.
