Neste and Terntank agree on low-emission tankers
Neste Oyj has signed an agreement with Terntank Rederi A/S to time charter two new product tankers designed for lower emissions. The vessels will transport raw materials and refined products.

Neste Corporation has agreed to time charter two new product tankers from Terntank Rederi A/S, aimed at transporting raw materials and finished products with reduced environmental impact. The tankers are designed to carry various liquid cargoes, including renewable feedstocks such as waste oils and fats, to Neste's refineries.
The agreement supports Neste's sustainability targets, particularly in reducing value chain emissions. "With these vessels we continue to reduce the emissions and environmental impacts of transportation," said Lauri Helin, Vice President, Logistics and Operations, Oil Products at Neste.
The new tankers will feature foldable suction sails and dual-fuel engines capable of running on e-methanol, a fuel produced using renewable energy and captured carbon. These technologies are expected to further lower emissions from shipping operations, aligning with the International Maritime Organization's climate goals.
Ordered by Terntank and built by CMHI Jinling Shipyard in China, the tankers are set for delivery in the latter half of 2025 and early 2026. Terntank expressed satisfaction in partnering with Neste again and highlighted the vessels' role in minimizing shipping's environmental footprint toward carbon neutrality.
