Neste Expands Sustainable Aviation Fuel Deliveries to United Airlines at Three New US Airports

Neste, a provider of renewable solutions, has expanded its partnership with United Airlines to supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to three additional major U.S. airports. The new agreement designates United as the first commercial airline to utilize SAF for flights departing from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington D.C.

Under the terms of the agreement, Neste will supply neat Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™. The SAF will be blended with conventional jet fuel to meet existing specifications before its use. Deliveries commenced at Houston in July and will continue through October 2025. Supply to Newark and Dulles began in September 2025 and is scheduled to run until the end of the year. Neste utilizes its existing pipeline infrastructure from its SAF terminal facilities in Houston to deliver the fuel.

United's Chief Sustainability Officer Lauren Riley stated that introducing SAF at these hubs marks a significant milestone for the airline's sustainability initiatives. She noted that while United was the leading SAF user in the U.S. last year, the airline recognizes the need for government support, including incentive policies, to foster market growth. Riley emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with partners like Neste to encourage policymakers.

This expansion builds upon the existing relationship between Neste and United, which includes earlier SAF supplies at Chicago O'Hare and San Francisco International Airports. Neste reports that its SAF reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuel. The company is increasing its global SAF production capacity, aiming for 2.2 million tons per annum by 2027.
