Neste Expands Sustainable Aviation Fuel Supply to United Airlines at Three U.S. Airports

Neste Corporation has expanded its agreement with United Airlines to supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to three new major airports in the United States. The new deal positions United as the first commercial airline to purchase SAF for flights departing from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Washington D.C.

Under the agreement, Neste will supply its Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ in neat form to United Airlines. The SAF will be blended with conventional jet fuel before use to meet existing standards. Deliveries to Houston began in July and continued through October 2025, while deliveries to Newark and Dulles commenced in September 2025 and will proceed until the end of the year. The fuel is transported to each airport via existing pipeline infrastructure from Neste's SAF terminal facilities located in Houston.

United Airlines' Chief Sustainability Officer Lauren Riley stated that the introduction of SAF at its Houston, Newark, and Dulles hubs represents a significant milestone. However, she emphasized that the growth of the SAF market requires support from both state and federal governments, along with supportive market incentives. Carl Nyberg, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Renewable Products at Neste, added that expanding the availability of SAF to new markets is crucial for accelerating production and achieving the aviation industry's net-zero carbon goals.

This latest agreement builds upon the existing long-term relationship between Neste and United Airlines. Neste has previously supplied SAF to United at airports such as Chicago O’Hare International Airport and San Francisco International Airport, where regulatory frameworks and incentives have supported renewable fuel adoption. Neste is the world's leading producer of SAF, with a current annual production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons, which is slated to increase to 2.2 million metric tons by 2027.
