Neste introduces CleanTrail concept for sustainable delivery services

Neste Oyj has introduced the CleanTrail concept, aiming to make online and mobile shopping more environmentally friendly. The concept is part of Neste's "Pre-order the Future" innovation project.

CleanTrail is a simple, integrable plugin for existing applications that offers e-commerce businesses the ability to add a sustainable delivery option for their customers. When an online store implements CleanTrail, customers can select at checkout a delivery fulfilled using Neste's renewable fuels, such as Neste Renewable Diesel. The plugin can also facilitate other sustainable choices, like environmentally friendly packaging.

The introduction of this service provides consumers with an opportunity to reduce the environmental footprint of their purchases and make a conscious choice for sustainable options. While this "special delivery" may incur a small additional cost, it is part of a reward system designed to benefit the customer in future transactions.

CleanTrail is one of five concepts within Neste's "Pre-order the Future" project, which focuses on utilizing renewable materials in products and services. The winning concept of the project is set to be announced in October 2016, followed by prototype development. Neste is a leading global producer of renewable diesel derived from waste and residues.
