Neste invests in AFS to supply sustainable aviation fuel at Schiphol Airport
Neste has acquired a minority stake in Aircraft Fuel Supply (AFS), the owner and operator of fuel storage at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The investment aims to enable the supply of sustainable aviation fuel at the airport.

Energy company Neste Oyj has acquired a minority stake in Aircraft Fuel Supply B.V. (AFS), which owns and operates the fuel storage facilities at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The investment, announced in December 2020, aims to expand the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at a major global airport.
Through its share in AFS, Neste can now offer continuous supplies of SAF to airlines operating at Schiphol. Neste's SAF is produced from renewable waste and residue raw materials. Its use can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from aviation by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to fossil jet fuel.
The sustainable aviation fuel is a drop-in solution, meaning it can be used in existing aircraft engines and airport infrastructure without requiring extra investment. Neste states it is blended with fossil jet fuel before use and meets ASTM jet fuel specifications.
Neste currently has an annual SAF production capacity of 100,000 tons. With planned expansions, including at its Singapore refinery, the company aims to reach an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons of SAF by 2023.
Both Neste and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are participants in the Clean Skies for Tomorrow initiative, which seeks to accelerate the deployment of sustainable aviation fuels in Europe.
