Neste Jacobs and GE Healthcare announced a strategic alliance aimed at helping countries worldwide become self-sufficient in manufacturing blood plasma products. This collaboration seeks to address the growing global demand for life-saving treatments.

The alliance combines GE Healthcare's expertise in bioprocessing for plasma fractionation with Neste Jacobs' global bio-engineering and construction capabilities. The companies will offer governments and pharmaceutical companies an integrated, cost-competitive "turn-key" approach for constructing plasma fractionation plants.

Blood plasma is the liquid component of blood and the source of critical proteins like clotting factors and immunoglobulins, used to treat serious conditions such as shock, trauma, infections, and hemophilia. Global demand for these products is projected to rise significantly, yet many countries' healthcare systems struggle to meet needs. The World Federation of Hemophilia estimates only 25% of people with hemophilia globally receive adequate treatment.

Olivier Loeillot of GE Healthcare Life Sciences stated that the alliance will make acquiring these essential capabilities easier for governments and healthcare providers. Jarmo Suominen of Neste Jacobs highlighted the shared vision to streamline and simplify the construction of new facilities by combining their unique competencies.
