Neste partners for renewable nylon fiber for The North Face
Neste, Goldwin, Idemitsu, and Toray are collaborating to supply renewable nylon fiber for use in The North Face brand's products. The material is derived from renewable raw materials such as waste and residues.

Neste Corporation, a producer of renewable diesel and sustainable solutions, has partnered with Goldwin Inc., Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., and Toray Industries, Inc. The collaboration aims to supply renewable nylon fiber for the manufacturing of products under The North Face brand.
Neste will contribute by producing the renewable, ready-to-spin plastic raw material. This raw material is derived from Neste's Renewables portfolio, which includes materials made from waste and residue feedstocks, such as used cooking oil. Neste's involvement focuses on the initial stage of the supply chain, providing a sustainable alternative to fossil-based raw materials.
Goldwin, Idemitsu, and Toray will collectively handle the fiber production and its integration into the final textile products. This initiative seeks to reduce the environmental footprint of the textile industry and promote a circular economy model. The renewable nylon is expected to offer comparable or superior performance characteristics to conventional nylon derived from petrochemical sources.
This partnership aligns with Neste's broader strategy to expand its footprint in the polymers and chemicals sectors by offering sustainable raw materials for various industries. The company aims to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy and reduce reliance on finite fossil resources across multiple value chains.
