Nestlé expands coffee production in Schwerin, creating 50 jobs

Nestlé Deutschland AG is significantly expanding coffee capsule production capacity at its Schwerin plant. Starting in 2027, the facility is projected to manufacture approximately 2.3 billion NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee capsules annually, marking a 28 percent increase from current volumes. This expansion is expected to create around 50 new jobs, with hiring planned to begin in October 2026.

The Schwerin factory, operational since 2014, has established itself as a high-performing production site. It currently produces 28 different varieties of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto capsules for various markets, utilizing ten filling lines and eight packaging lines. Its previous annual production volume stood at around 1.8 billion capsules.

Alexander von Maillot, CEO of Nestlé Germany, stated that the decision to increase production capacity in Schwerin signals strong confidence in the site's capabilities and its workforce. He highlighted the plant's central role within Nestlé's international production network and its future potential.

To accommodate the increased output, three of the ten manufacturing lines will transition from three-shift to four-shift operations. This change is intended to ensure reliable production of the growing volumes. New employees will be hired for roles in machine operation, mechatronics, electrical engineering, and logistics. Nestlé annually invests substantial sums in modernizing its facilities, and the Schwerin plant also emphasizes sustainability through renewable energy use and responsibly sourced coffee.
