Nestlé Health Science recalls Alfamino infant formula

Nestlé Health Science GmbH has initiated a recall of the Alfamino special formula for infants, batch code 80250346GA, with an expiration date of January 2020. The recall affects 400-gram cans of the product.

The company stated that a very limited number of cans within this batch may contain a significantly increased dose of minerals. This elevated mineral content can be identified by a distinctly increased greenish-grey appearance after preparation. Nestlé advises parents not to administer the product to their children.

Consumption of the product from the affected batch could lead to illness, with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and headaches. Parents whose children have consumed the product are urged to consult a physician immediately. Alfamino is a specialized formula for infants with severe cow's milk protein allergy and other food allergies or intolerances.

This recall is limited to the specified batch code; other batches of Alfamino and other Nestlé infant formulas are unaffected. Consumers who purchased the affected product can return it to their pharmacy for an exchange or refund. A dedicated hotline has been established for consumer inquiries.
