Net5.5G Summit Addresses AI Security Risks and Network Resilience
The Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit focused on enhancing network security and resilience in the age of AI. Discussions highlighted new cybersecurity strategies and collaborative initiatives for operators.
The Net5.5G Intelligent IP Network Summit, held during the Global Ultra-Broadband Forum (UBBF) 2026, addressed the evolving landscape of network security and growth opportunities driven by artificial intelligence. GSMA Intelligence unveiled its latest white paper on cybersecurity, while the ITU-T SG13, in collaboration with the WBBA, launched a global initiative urging operators to build secure and resilient IP networks.
Experts from ITU-T SG13 and AV-TEST highlighted AI's impact on the scale and speed of cyberattacks, noting a disruption to traditional offensive-defensive balances. The summit emphasized that security and resilience must be integrated into network architectures as a strategic necessity.
GSMA Intelligence's white paper, "A Target Architecture for Cyber Security in Telecommunications," outlines "Native Security" and "In-Depth Defense" as crucial pillars. It also warns of future decryption threats from quantum computing, prompting the need for advanced cryptographic measures.
In response, the ITU-T SG13 and WBBA initiated "Build Resilient, Secure IP Networks Together." Huawei showcased its NG-WAN solution, with company representatives emphasizing AI's role in network monetization. The summit also featured global operators sharing their strategies for network security and resilience, with several recognized for their contributions.
