NetCologne Begins Fiber Optic Network Expansion in Pulheim

Network provider NetCologne has begun the pre-marketing of its fiber optic network in the Pulheim districts of Brauweiler, Dansweiler, and Stommeln. Around 9,500 private households and commercial enterprises are eligible to choose a fiber optic connection from NetCologne. The deadline for this pre-marketing campaign is March 31, 2023, during which the installation of the fiber optic connection will be provided free of charge, saving residents €999.

To inform residents about the planned fiber optic network expansion and address any questions, NetCologne is organizing two information evenings. One event is scheduled for November 24 in Stommeln, followed by another on December 8 in Brauweiler.

Pulheim's Mayor, Frank Keppler, highlighted the importance of fast and stable internet connections, stating that fiber optic provision will "put the people in our city on the digital fast track" and provide the foundation for all future digital developments.

NetCologne plans to commence the actual network construction between spring and summer 2023, allocating approximately €13 million from its own funds to accelerate the expansion in Pulheim. These are direct "Fibre-to-the-home" (FTTH) connections, with lines laid directly into the buildings. Residents in Pulheim will be able to surf the internet at speeds of up to one gigabit per second via NetCologne, benefiting from the interference-free nature of fiber optic cables.
