NetCologne Expands Fiber Network in Hürth

Network operator NetCologne is continuing the expansion of its fiber optic network in the German city of Hürth. The district of Efferen will soon benefit from faster internet connections as part of this rollout. Two-thirds of the work in Efferen is already complete, with the remaining tasks scheduled for completion within March.

The expansion project encompasses several districts within Hürth. Fischenich and Kendenich are expected to see their first connections in the spring. Construction is currently underway in Hürth-Mitte, and cable laying in Altstädten-Burbach and Kalscheuren will commence in the summer. Later in the autumn, Alt-Hürth, Stotzheim, and Sielsdorf will follow.

In total, 130 kilometers of new fiber optic cable are planned for Hürth, with approximately 12 kilometers already installed. The project aims to connect around 24,000 households to the fiber network by the end of 2016. NetCologne will inform residents in advance when their connection is ready for switching.

NetCologne is also organizing information events for local residents. An information bus will tour Hürth from late February to early March, providing details on new products and connection options. The company also offers guidance on canceling existing contracts and retaining current phone numbers.
