Netflix reports record subscriber growth in India following local content and Flipkart partnership

Netflix recorded its strongest net subscriber growth in India during the September 2026 quarter, with revenue in the region rising 18% on a foreign exchange-neutral basis. The company attributed this performance to a robust slate of Indian original productions and a strategic bundling agreement with Flipkart.

Viewer engagement metrics showed significant improvement, with total viewing hours increasing by 24% year-over-year. Co-CEO Greg Peters highlighted titles such as the reality series 'Lock Upp' and scripted projects like 'Musafir Cafe' and 'Operation Safed Sagar' as key drivers for membership growth and platform retention.

Globally, Netflix posted $12.87 billion in Q3 revenue, a 12% increase from the previous year, supported by operating margins that expanded to 34.6%. The company intends to maintain this momentum in 2027 by expanding its advertising-supported subscription tier to 15 additional markets starting in March.
