Netflix to Produce $2 Million Monopoly Reality Competition

Netflix and Hasbro are bringing the Monopoly board game to life with a new reality competition series. The show will feature 12 contestants competing in a large-scale, immersive environment designed to mirror the game's iconic Town Square. The ultimate prize for the winner will be $2 million, aiming to capture the essence of Monopoly's wealth-building fantasy.

Studio Lambert, known for producing "Squid Game: The Challenge," is behind the production. Participants will engage in real estate acquisition, negotiation, and financial management, with elements like Chance cards and potential jail time integrated into the gameplay. The series intends to translate the strategic and economic elements of Monopoly into a televised format.

Similar to the board game, contestants facing bankruptcy will be eliminated throughout the competition. The last player remaining standing will be crowned the winner. This initiative aligns with Netflix's broader strategy of adapting popular games and intellectual properties into unscripted entertainment.

Eligibility for the competition requires contestants to be U.S. legal residents, at least 21 years old, and available for a three-week filming period. While an official release date is pending, the show is slated to premiere in fall 2027. Netflix secured the rights for this Monopoly reality series in 2025.
