Netnod launches new VLAN service for Nordic connectivity

Netnod, a provider of critical internet infrastructure, has launched a new Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) service aimed at simplifying and expediting connections between its Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) located across the Nordic region.

The service is designed to maximize the value of existing port connections, offering a cost-effective method for customers to interconnect with multiple Netnod IXPs. It eliminates the need for new physical cross-connects or separate equipment, thereby enabling network operators to establish broader peering arrangements throughout the Nordics.

Through this new service, customers can utilize a single port to connect to various Netnod IXPs, including those in Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen. The service provides full peering capabilities, such as connectivity to route servers. Monthly pricing ranges from SEK 2,500 for a 10 Gbps connection to SEK 7,500 for a 100 Gbps connection.

Netnod states the service is intended for rapid deployment and offers flexible contract terms without long-term commitments. The new VLAN peering service is scheduled for availability at all Netnod IXPs in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway starting in the third quarter of 2019.
