Neue Pressegesellschaft launches AI-powered article chatbot "Ask Me"
Neue Pressegesellschaft (NPG) has introduced "Ask Me," a new AI-powered feature available in its mobile apps. The service allows subscribers interactive access to editorial content.
The Ulm-based media group Neue Pressegesellschaft (NPG), publisher of "Südwest Presse" and "Märkische Oderzeitung" among others, has launched "Ask Me," a new AI-powered function. This feature is now available within the mobile applications of NPG titles including "Südwest Presse," "Märkische Oderzeitung," and "Lausitzer Rundschau."
"Ask Me" enables subscribers to ask questions in natural language about current and archived editorial content. The system, which relies solely on content that has undergone editorial review, provides answers to user queries. The objective is to offer subscribers targeted and effective assistance and to provide better orientation within the published material.
The functionality utilizes artificial intelligence to deliver context-aware responses. The system draws upon NPG's extensive range of articles, covering topics from local and regional news to politics, sports, culture, and service-oriented information. Users can submit their questions through a chat input field within the apps.
Neue Pressegesellschaft states that "Ask Me" enhances the group's existing digital offerings with an interactive service. The underlying technology for the system was developed by AI specialist Retresco, utilizing their RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology. This approach extracts editorial knowledge by identifying semantic connections, processing user questions contextually, and generating reliable answers based on existing content.
