The upcoming 20th season of the popular German series "Der Bergdoktor" will feature several new cast members. Prominent actress Katerina Jacob is set to join the ensemble, alongside other newcomers making their debut.
Filming is underway for the 20th season of the successful German television series "Der Bergdoktor" (The Mountain Doctor), which will introduce several new actors. Acclaimed actress Katerina Jacob is among the prominent new additions, taking on a significant role in one of the upcoming episodes. The series, starring Hans Sigl as Dr. Martin Gruber, aims to refresh its narrative with new talent.
Katerina Jacob will portray Erna Auer, an elderly woman whose life is disrupted by her grandson's visit. Jacob is a familiar face to many viewers, known for her roles in shows like "Der Bulle von Tölz." Her casting is expected to generate considerable interest, bolstering the series' reputation for dramatic medical storylines.
Other new actors joining the cast include Steffen Schröder and Benjamin Raue. While Schröder's specific role has not yet been officially announced, he will appear in the new season. Raue, 24, is making his first appearance in "Der Bergdoktor" and described his experience on set as "unforgettable." Karl Seibt will also join the series, appearing in the same episode as Jacob and playing a beekeeper.
Additionally, Simone Hanselmann is returning as Franziska, Martin Gruber's former partner. Her reappearance brings their five-year-old son to the forefront, potentially creating conflict with Martin's current wife, Karin Bachmeier (played by Hilde Dalik). These new and returning characters are expected to add new layers of drama and personal dynamics to the 20th-anniversary season.
