New Analysis Supports Long-Term Benefits of TECVAYLI Combination Therapy
A new model-based analysis suggests that TECVAYLI® (teclistamab) combined with daratumumab may significantly improve long-term survival and achieve near-normal life expectancy for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
New data released by Johnson & Johnson indicate that TECVAYLI® (teclistamab) in combination with daratumumab could redefine treatment expectations for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM).
A model-based analysis of Phase III MajesTEC-3 study data suggests that approximately 87 percent of patients receiving this combination therapy as their second-line treatment had a mortality risk comparable to the general population. The study also predicted that the median overall survival (OS) would be nearly four times longer compared to standard treatment (daratumumab, dexamethasone, and either pomalidomide or bortezomib).
Furthermore, a post-hoc analysis demonstrated that the TECVAYLI combination reduced the risk of disease progression by 90 percent compared to standard therapy. No significant difference was observed in non-relapse mortality between the treatment arms, suggesting the therapy may not only delay disease progression but also improve long-term survival.
Researchers emphasize that this combination therapy, based on complementary mechanisms of action, has the potential for sustained disease control. Dr. Luciano J. Costa noted that the choice of therapy at the first relapse is crucial for a patient's long-term prognosis.
Johnson & Johnson views these findings as promising and believes this combination may establish a new standard of care for RRMM patients, offering the possibility of long-term disease control rather than merely delaying the next relapse.
