New England Biolabs and seqWell Partner on Transposase Technology
New England Biolabs (NEB) and seqWell have formed a strategic partnership, with NEB launching seqWell's TnX Transposase (Unloaded) product. NEB gains rights to manufacture and sell the technology.

Ipswich, Mass. – New England Biolabs (NEB), a company specializing in enzyme production for molecular biology, and seqWell, a developer of genomic workflow solutions, have announced a strategic partnership. This collaboration includes NEB's commercial launch of the TnX Transposase (Unloaded) product, based on seqWell's technology. Under the agreement, NEB has secured co-exclusive rights to sell the transposase and the right to manufacture it for inclusion in NEB kits and products.
The TnX Transposase (Unloaded) is an engineered enzyme variant designed for a single-step process that simultaneously fragments nucleic acids and inserts adaptors. This streamlined method aims to reduce processing times and the number of cleanup steps required in genomic sample preparation. "We're excited to provide researchers with a highly reproducible transposase that gives them freedom over adaptor design," said Isaac Meek, Director of Business Development at NEB.
seqWell views the partnership as a significant step, leveraging NEB's established reputation in the life science research market. "NEB has long been synonymous with quality and reliability in enzyme tools for life science research," stated Joe Mellor, Chief Scientific Officer at seqWell. He added that combining NEB's manufacturing scale with seqWell's expertise will ensure broader access to advanced genomic tools.
The unloaded TnX Transposase offers researchers the flexibility to assemble custom transposomes using user-defined oligonucleotides. This feature supports the development of custom assays, single-cell workflows, and novel genomic methods. NEB is offering the product directly with optimized loading and reaction protocols. Further product details and specifications are available on the NEB website.
