New Fast Ferry Inselexpress 3 Named for Juist Service
The new "Inselexpress 3" fast ferry, with a capacity of 54 passengers, has been christened and entered service between Norddeich and Juist. The vessel is optimized for shallow waters.
AG Reederei Norden-Frisia has officially christened and launched its new fast ferry, the "Inselexpress 3." The ferry will operate between Norddeich and Juist, enhancing connectivity for the island.
Godmother Katrin Bakker christened the vessel in Norddeich. Designed to carry 54 passengers, its shallow draft of just 75 centimeters allows for regular access to the tide-dependent island of Juist.
The "Inselexpress 3" was constructed at the Dutch shipyard Next Generation Shipyards, with an order placed in September 2025. Its technical features, including Hamilton waterjets and multi-fuel capability (diesel, GTL, HVO), are tailored for the Wadden Sea environment.
The shipping company anticipates that the new ferry will meet growing passenger demand and improve the island's accessibility. This vessel complements the existing Express service, which includes the "Inselexpress 1" and "Inselexpress 2."
