New game "A Plague Tale: Years of Winter" goes gold, set for August 27 release
The latest installment in the "A Plague Tale" series, "A Plague Tale: Years of Winter," has reached the "gone GOLD" stage, signifying completion of development. The game is scheduled for release on August 27.

IT Home, July 4 – Game developer IT Home announced that "A Plague Tale: Years of Winter," the newest title in the series, has officially gone gold. This milestone indicates that all core development is complete and the game is ready for manufacturing and digital distribution.
The game serves as a prequel to "A Plague Tale: Requiem," set approximately fifteen years before the main storyline's events. Players will assume the role of a young pirate smuggler named Sophia, exploring the mysterious Minotaur Island. The narrative will focus on her journey to uncover the connection between her lineage and an ancient curse.
"A Plague Tale: Years of Winter" features adjusted gameplay mechanics compared to its predecessors, emphasizing direct combat and incorporating environmental puzzles. A dual timeline mechanism is introduced, linking medieval times with Minoan civilization, where Sophia occasionally appears as an apparition of the warrior Theseus, offering differing perspectives for narrative and gameplay.
The game is slated for an official release on August 27, 2026. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms, including Steam and the Epic Games Store. The title will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. The game will support simplified and traditional Chinese interface and subtitles.
