New generation Scania trucks tested in Japan

Swedish truck manufacturer Scania has begun testing its new generation of trucks in Japan, marking the first deployment of these vehicles in regular operation outside of Europe. One of the initial drivers is Takashi Tamura, employed by transport company Okawa Unyu.

The tests are part of Scania Japan's preparations for a local market launch later in 2018. The company deems it crucial to gather data on the new models' performance under Japan's unique conditions, including dense urban environments and varied topography.

Okawa Unyu, a company operating over 1,000 trucks, has ordered the test vehicles despite the official launch being scheduled for later. The company has prior experience with Scania trucks and sought to test the new generation ahead of its official release.

Driver Tamura has expressed satisfaction with the new vehicle, citing its comfort, power, and stylish design. He holds pride in his profession, and the new Scania truck forms part of this experience. Scania aims to gather valuable driver experience data as part of the approval process for the Japanese market.
