New health center opens in Garding
The Mittleres Eiderstedt health center in Garding officially opens on Saturday, June 20th, after approximately four years of construction. The facility combines modern medicine with a historic building complex.
The new Mittleres Eiderstedt health center in Garding, located in the district of Nordfriesland, will officially open on Saturday, June 20th. Following roughly four years of construction, the public will have the opportunity to tour the facilities during an open house event.
The construction of the health center faced several hurdles, including requirements from heritage preservation for its integration into a historically protected building. One of the buildings on the site is considered one of the oldest secular structures in Schleswig-Holstein. The process was further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain disruptions.
The project's final cost amounted to approximately nine million euros, nearly double the initially planned 5.5 million euros. The cost increase is attributed to the preservation requirements, pandemic-related issues, and material shortages.
The new health center consolidates a range of medical services, including a pharmacy, two general practitioners, a pediatrician, a dermatologist, and practices for physical and occupational therapy. The initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility in the region.
