New Hongqi H9 Sedan Opens for Pre-orders with Huawei ADS 5 System

FAW Hongqi has opened pre-orders for the new generation Hongqi H9 luxury sedan. Pricing details have not yet been released, but the previous model started at approximately 330,000 yuan (around $45,000 USD).

The new H9 is positioned as a C+ class intelligent flagship sedan, incorporating Huawei's ADS 5 advanced driving assistance system and a HarmonySpace cockpit powered by the HarmonyOS operating system. It includes an 896-line LiDAR scanner and a total of 40 sensors, which the company states can detect small obstacles at speeds up to 120 km/h.

The vehicle's dimensions have been increased from the previous model, measuring 5230mm in length, 1955mm in width, and 1515mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3120mm. This wheelbase surpasses that of competitors like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6L. The exterior design features a new semi-closed grille, prominent LED lighting, and chrome accents.

The interior boasts a triple-screen setup, centered around a 16.1-inch infotainment display. The cockpit utilizes the HarmonyOS-based system, with voice commands managed by a self-developed MoLA architecture for faster response times. Materials include leather, suede, and wood trim. All four seats offer electric adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The audio system is a 25-speaker HUAWEI SOUND configuration.

Under the hood, the new Hongqi H9 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid system with an engine output of 145 kW. Combined with the electric motor, the rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions offer a total system power of up to 444 kW (604 hp). The battery capacity is 40.4 kWh, providing an estimated electric-only range of around 200 km. The car is built on an 800V hybrid platform and includes air suspension and rear-wheel steering.
