New Huanggang Border Crossing to Open October 12
The new Huanggang border crossing between Shenzhen and Hong Kong will open on October 12, offering 24-hour service with a new "cooperative inspection, one-time release" clearance model.

The new Huanggang border crossing between Shenzhen and Hong Kong is set to officially open on October 12, 2026. The facility will provide 24-hour clearance for passengers and transport vehicles, while suspending current passenger inspection services between Shenzhen's Huanggang and Hong Kong's Lok Ma Chau control points.
The crossing is designed to handle a peak daily capacity of 200,000 passengers, with the potential to increase to 300,000. Initially, at least 100,000 passengers are expected to pass through the crossing each day.
The rebuilt crossing will implement a "cooperative inspection, one-time release" system. Passengers using the cooperative inspection self-service channels will complete both mainland China and Hong Kong immigration procedures in a single stop. This process is expected to significantly speed up travel, with self-service channels taking approximately 20 seconds per passenger.
The facility features 134 self-service channels for cooperative inspection and 68 traditional manual counters. The new crossing has passed acceptance checks, and both Shenzhen and Hong Kong authorities have completed system tests and emergency drills to ensure readiness.
