New Jersey American Water Appoints Leaders to Government Affairs Team

New Jersey American Water has strengthened its Government Affairs team with two key leadership appointments. Fred DeAndrea has joined the company as director of Government Affairs, and Sakeema M. James has been promoted to senior manager of Government Affairs.

The appointments aim to enhance the company's advocacy and stakeholder engagement within the state's political and regulatory landscape. DeAndrea brings over 20 years of experience in public policy and external affairs, including a prior role with Comcast. James has been with the company since 2020, focusing on legislative and public policy strategy.

"Building and maintaining strong relationships with government leaders, regulators and community stakeholders is fundamental to advancing our mission and supporting the communities we serve," said Kimberly Schalek Downes, vice president of Business Development, Government and External Affairs for New Jersey American Water.

DeAndrea will lead the company's government affairs strategy, supporting engagement with policymakers and stakeholders across the state. James will complement this work with a focus on central and northern New Jersey. These appointments reflect the depth of experience and leadership within the company's Government Affairs team, aligning with efforts to invest in infrastructure and strengthen relationships statewide.
