Mercedes-Benz will launch a new long-wheelbase GLE SUV in China on September 16. The vehicle features updated styling and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Mercedes-Benz is set to launch a new long-wheelbase variant of its GLE SUV in the Chinese market on September 16. The updated model boasts an extended wheelbase of 3115mm, designed to enhance rear passenger space. This China-exclusive version has rolled off the production line at Mercedes-Benz's Shunyi plant in Beijing.
The new GLE SUV features Mercedes-Benz's latest design language and a modern interior dominated by a triple-screen display. It incorporates an AI-powered virtual assistant and will later feature Momenta's R7 "world model" for an improved driving experience. The cabin prioritizes comfort with a large panoramic sunroof and optional seat massage functions.
Further technology includes Mercedes-Benz's AR head-up display, which overlays navigation data onto the driver's view of the road. A new urban and highway driving assistance system offers advanced capabilities, including "parking-to-parking" autonomous driving and parking assistance tailored for China.
Powering the SUV is a 3.0-liter inline-six engine equipped with an electric auxiliary compressor and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This setup delivers 560 Nm of torque and improves fuel efficiency. The GLE SUV comes standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive and AIRMATIC air suspension, which can increase ground clearance when needed.
