New luxury hotel opens in Northwest England

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor group, has opened its new hotel, Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, in Northwest England. This new opening adds to the brand's established UK portfolio, which includes The Savoy, Fairmont Windsor Park, and Fairmont St Andrews.

The transformed countryside estate features 116 bedrooms and suites, multiple dining experiences including Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, an 18-hole golf course, and a spa. The hotel, which opened in July 2026, offers guests a luxury countryside escape following a multi-million-pound renovation.

The property's interiors were designed by Bergman Design House, with the project costing £125 million. The aim was to blend Fairmont's signature hospitality with the character of the Cheshire region. Located on 157 acres beside The Mere lake near Knutsford, the resort is less than a 30-minute drive from Manchester.

Dining options include Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, serving British cuisine, alongside The Orangery and The Club Lounge. The hotel aims to provide guests with experiences that combine local heritage and landscape with Fairmont's renowned service standards.
