New New Patch introduces fabric repair sticker

New York-based startup New New Patch has created a novel fabric patch that functions like a sticker, designed for quick and simple repair of clothing damage. Founder Prue Linehan developed the product to be applied directly to fabric without requiring sewing, ironing, or heat.

Linehan's objective was to make repairing garments more convenient than replacing them. "I've spent three years developing a product that can change how we approach clothing longevity," Linehan stated. Each patch is engineered to withstand repeated washing cycles, aiming to extend the lifespan of clothing and reduce textile waste.

Traditionally, clothing repair has demanded time and skill, often leading to garments being discarded due to minor flaws. In the era of fast fashion, the economics of repairing inexpensive clothing frequently do not add up, contributing significantly to landfill waste annually.

The New New Patch solution addresses this issue by providing an easy and rapid method for mending. The company utilized advanced adhesive compounds capable of withstanding frequent laundering. Linehan reportedly tested dozens of adhesive options and conducted numerous wash tests to arrive at the final formulation. A sheet of 12 patches costs $20 and is available through the company's website and select children's stores in New York.
