New Official Quake 30th Anniversary Mission Pack Adds Maps and Mechanics

This year marks the 30th anniversary of id Software's original Quake release. In celebration, publisher Bethesda has launched a new campaign chapter for the game, named "Dawn of the Machine."

The new content was developed by MachineGames in collaboration with id Software. MachineGames is recognized for its work on the recent Wolfenstein reboot series and the upcoming "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." The maps for "Dawn of the Machine" were created by a team known as "Quake Club," comprising several MachineGames employees who contribute to Quake maps in their spare time.

The ambition and scale of some of these new maps exceed the typical scope of late 1990s Quake maps. This is partly due to the team's utilization of TrenchBroom, a modern map editor that offers greater capabilities and ease of use compared to the tools available during the game's initial release.

"Dawn of the Machine" provides both veteran and new players with fresh challenges, blending classic Quake gameplay with contemporary level design tools.
