The next installment in the Pokémon series, potentially titled Pokémon: Zephyr & Tide, is slated to launch in 2027 for the Nintendo Switch 2 and is rumored to feature an unprecedented number of new Pokémon.

According to leaks from sources like CentroLeaks, the game plans to add over 300 new Pokémon. If accurate, this would represent nearly a third of the series' current total population of 1025 Pokémon, significantly surpassing previous entries in terms of new creature additions.

Reports suggest that recent development builds contain 531 Pokémon slots, with 307 reserved for new species and regional forms. This large number could be partly explained by rumors of new combat mechanics and weather-dependent transformations for certain Pokémon, potentially requiring unique entries for each variant.

While details remain speculative, this expansion hints at a significant shift in the Pokémon game design. Previous games, like Pokémon Sword and Shield, introduced around 80 new Pokémon, making the rumored figure for Zephyr & Tide substantially larger.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have not officially confirmed the exact number of Pokémon or other details about the game. Public information so far has highlighted the new open-world setting, new regions, and starter Pokémon.
