New Shipping Route from Nanjing to Europe Facilitates Chinese Car Exports
A new direct shipping route from Nanjing Port to Europe has opened, enabling the export of Chinese vehicles without transshipment.

According to Chinese tech outlet IT Home, a new maritime route from Nanjing Port to Europe was officially launched on October 11. This route allows for the direct export of Chinese vehicles, particularly new energy cars, to Barcelona, Spain, and Zeebrugge, Belgium.
The new route aims to streamline the export process by eliminating the need for vehicles to be transferred through coastal ports before reaching European destinations. This is expected to significantly reduce overall costs related to transit and storage, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese automotive exports.
The inaugural voyage of the "Guangrong" vessel carried 1,530 domestically produced new energy vehicles. The ship is a new generation methanol dual-fuel roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessel, measuring 199.9 meters in length with a capacity of 7,800 TEUs. It is noted as the largest ro-ro vessel to have docked at Nanjing Port.
Nanjing Port statistics indicate that 13,900 vehicles were exported via the port in 2025. For the first nine months of the current year, exports totaled 29,100 vehicles, demonstrating a robust growth trend in the export of Chinese-made automobiles.
