New Study: TenJet Procedure Reduces Hip Pain Symptoms
A study indicates that a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided TenJet procedure significantly reduced pain and improved function in patients with chronic hip pain within six months.

A prospective multicenter study has reported initial findings that a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided procedure using the TenJet device significantly reduced pain and improved function at six months for patients suffering from recalcitrant gluteal tendinopathy, commonly known as hip external pain.
The study followed 46 patients with long-standing pain on the outside of the hip, a condition often referred to as greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS). Many individuals with GTPS experience persistent symptoms despite conservative treatments like rest, medication, or physical therapy. Participants in this study had tried at least one conservative approach before undergoing the procedure.
The TenJet device, developed by HydroCision, Inc., is designed for targeted removal of degenerative, pathological tendon tissue under real-time ultrasound guidance in an outpatient setting. Chronic pain on the hip's exterior can impede sleep on one side, stair climbing, and prolonged sitting. The condition is particularly prevalent among middle-aged and older women.
Patients will continue to be monitored for up to two years to assess long-term outcomes. The study did not include a control group receiving alternative treatments. Rothman Orthopaedics is a leading provider of orthopedic care across several U.S. states.
