New survey reveals preferences in Finnish home improvement projects
A Sifo study commissioned by Jula indicates that Finnish consumers prioritize gardening over other home maintenance, with roofing work identified as the least popular task.

A recent study conducted by Sifo on behalf of the retail chain Jula highlights clear patterns in home maintenance preferences among Finnish consumers. The research indicates that gardening is the most preferred project type, while tasks related to roof maintenance are widely considered the least appealing.
According to the survey, approximately 24 percent of respondents prefer gardening tasks, with painting and wallpapering following at 20 percent. The data also reveals a demographic divide: men show a higher propensity for building terraces, whereas women prioritize gardening efforts. Despite these differences, there is a consensus that roof renovations are the least desirable maintenance task.
Jaakko Soini, Country Manager for Jula in Finland, stated that understanding project preferences is essential for tailoring the product range to consumer needs. The company aims to facilitate home improvements by providing accessible and appropriate tools for various skill levels.
Jula has recently entered the Finnish market as part of its ongoing Nordic expansion. The chain focuses on providing retail solutions for home and leisure maintenance, supporting its operations through a centralized logistics network.
