New vehicle charging surged on highways during holiday period
China's National Energy Administration reported nearly 3 million charging sessions for new energy vehicles on highways during the first three days of the National Day holiday.

China's National Energy Administration announced a surge in charging demand for new energy vehicles on national highways during the initial three days of the National Day holiday. The highway charging infrastructure operated smoothly, with a significant year-on-year increase in charging volumes.
From October 1st to October 3rd, a total of 2.97 million charging sessions were recorded for new energy vehicles on national highways. This averages 990,000 sessions per day, marking a 48.41% increase compared to the same period last year. The total energy charged reached 71.61 million kilowatt-hours, averaging 23.87 million kilowatt-hours daily, a 49.39% rise from the previous year. These figures indicate a growing trend of green travel during holidays and an increasing preference for electric vehicles for long-distance journeys.
Analysis of data from 62,700 highway charging facilities monitored by the national platform shows this trend. The Ministry of Transport anticipates that approximately 30 service areas may experience particularly busy charging conditions on October 4th, primarily concentrated in Hebei, Henan, and Liaoning provinces. Travelers are advised to check the operational status of charging stations in advance to plan their journeys accordingly.
