SpaceXAI, which merged with Musk's AI venture xAI in February, has faced recent legal challenges. The company's chatbot, Grok, has been accused of enabling the mass production of non-consensual deepfake pornography. The city of Baltimore has sued the company for violating consumer protection laws.
Furthermore, teenagers have filed a class-action lawsuit against SpaceXAI after Grok allegedly generated sexualized and debasing images of them. The subpoena mandates that Musk or a SpaceXAI representative appear before a full Council Committee of the Whole hearing on October 5.
The investigation comes amid growing concerns from whistleblowers and AI executives about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence, including reports of AI agents causing damage to government databases.
