New York Governor Using AI to Analyze State Rules
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced her administration is using artificial intelligence to analyze all state rules and regulations to identify outdated legislation.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul revealed her administration is employing artificial intelligence to meticulously examine the state's entire body of rules and regulations. The initiative aims to identify and update outdated or redundant legislation more efficiently.
Hochul stated in an interview that the AI system is analyzing "every single rule, regulation, [and] policy" within the state. She cited examples of antiquated laws, such as a $25 fee for taking a dog hunting or a stipulation requiring pregnant individuals to obtain a permit to work past midnight.
The governor believes this analytical process, which would likely take five years at the staff level using traditional methods, can be completed significantly faster with AI. This move comes as the state also considers restrictions on new AI data centers.
The project is intended to modernize New York's legal framework and improve governmental efficiency. The findings from the AI analysis are expected to inform legislative proposals and streamline administrative procedures.
