Nexans and Vesto partner to scale electrical cable reuse

Electrical cable manufacturer Nexans has partnered with French company Vesto to expand its CableLoop service. CableLoop is Nexans' program for collecting and recycling electrical cables, and the collaboration aims to make it easier for construction professionals to return scrap cables, even in small volumes.

The partnership introduces three complementary solutions for construction clients in France: cable recycling for volumes above or below three tons, requalification of selected cable types for reuse, and collection of small quantities of any brand of cable. These collected cables are consolidated and sent for recovery within France.

To ensure the quality and safety of reused cables, Nexans has developed a technical guide with the French building research body CSTB. The initiative receives €50,000 in support from the French state via ADEME, and backing from Valobat. The goals include securing raw material supply, reducing the carbon footprint of cable production, and supporting customer environmental objectives.

Nexans states that responsible electrification requires more effective resource management. The partnership with Vesto explores the conditions for safe and traceable reuse in the construction sector, thereby supporting the circular economy across the industry.
