Nexans awarded IMR frame agreement by Svenska kraftnät

Nexans, a manufacturer of cable systems, has entered into a multi-year framework agreement with Swedish grid operator Svenska kraftnät. The contract covers the inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) of seven power interconnections between Sweden and its neighboring countries, reinforcing Nexans' role in supporting the reliability of Sweden's critical power transmission infrastructure.

The agreement encompasses approximately 1,000 kilometers of cables, including onshore, nearshore, and offshore infrastructure. It includes a comprehensive repair scope for both MI and XLPE cable technologies, covering cables manufactured by Nexans as well as those from third parties. Services will include fault location, pinpointing, repair, protection, and survey.

A key aspect of the agreement is ensuring preparedness and rapid response capabilities. Nexans will deploy dedicated resources, including its Modular Repair Deck, to facilitate efficient repairs and minimize downtime for Svenska kraftnät, thereby maintaining secure power flows across the transmission network. The contract features two years of repair exclusivity, with an option for a six-year extension.

Nexans stated that the agreement demonstrates Svenska kraftnät's trust in the company's technological expertise and operational capabilities. The contract highlights Nexans' involvement throughout the entire lifecycle of critical cable infrastructure, from design and manufacturing to installation and maintenance, solidifying its position as a long-term partner for transmission system operators worldwide.
